Ahead of the 2026 summer season, bungalow scams on Instagram and Facebook are accelerating again. In the last 3 months alone, at least 40 new fake accounts with 8,000+ followers using Ayder, Uzungöl and Pokut hashtags have been detected. This post covers the typical pattern and how to defend yourself.
The typical scam pattern
- A fresh Instagram account (2-6 months old).
- Photos stolen from Booking, Airbnb or real operators.
- Prices 40-60% below market.
- Contact only via DM or WhatsApp.
- Deposit requested to a personal IBAN.
- As soon as the wire arrives, the account blocks you or disappears.
Average loss: ₺2,500-15,000 per victim; some organized rings net ₺500,000+.
New tactics (2026)
- Fake WhatsApp business badges: profile pictures mimicking the green ✓ badge.
- “Official”-looking domains:
ayderbungalov-rezervasyon.comtype third-party URLs. - Fake Google Maps pins: added by scammers themselves — no reviews or spam reviews.
- Fake rating reviews: manufactured positive reviews on Trustpilot / Şikayetvar.
6 quick checks
- Instagram profile’s registration date (About → Registration date).
- Run photos through Google Reverse Image Search.
- Is the Google Maps pin real — does the satellite view show a bungalow?
- Multiple contact channels (landline + WhatsApp + email)?
- Does the IBAN holder name match the business or a consistent owner?
- Do they provide a written contract or email confirmation?
The last 30 seconds before paying a deposit
Ask this one question: “Can you do a 5-minute video walkthrough of the bungalow?” A legitimate operator does this without hesitation. Fakes 95% will ghost you at this point.

Our part
Every bungalow we list goes through 5 steps:
- Google Maps location check (satellite + pin).
- Voice call with the owner.
- Tax plate or operating licence.
- Reference across 3+ independent platforms.
- Photos sourced from the operator’s own site / directly from owner.
Still — always book directly on the operator’s own website. We are a verified guide, not a booking agent.
